Haven and Bein

Ok, so I am writing a story and I thought I would let you all read it one chapter at a time. I hope you enjoy it.

The Beginning of The Adventure

There once was a little boy named Haven. He was a happy and cheerful young lad with deep brown eyes open to new worlds and imagination. His hair, black as pitch, curled like the waves of the sea when blown by even a gentle wind.
On this particular spring afternoon, Haven, with no worry or care in this land, was sitting under a willow tree fantasizing about scruffy pirates, flying ships, and talking birds. As he leisurely sat under that tree, oblivious to the world around him, he dozed of into a most peculiar dream. Finding himself flying through the air upon a magical Pegasus when unexpectedly, this graceful creature advanced to an incredible speed. Somewhat bewildered, he shut his eyes and when the Pegasus had slowed its pace Haven carefully opened them. He saw that they were riding high above a beautiful rainbow, surfing its back like the mighty ocean. Suddenly, he awoke with a start as he felt a sharp nudge on his shoulder. He spun around to find a dashing young elf staring straight at him with an arrow in his hand and a look of wonderment. Haven rubbed his eyes thinking he was still asleep but found that he was not. As he studied the elf he realized that his hair was as silver and shined like the moon, his features were as sharp as a hawk’s, his body was very slim, and his eyes were the color of tree sap.
Haven decided to make friends with the strange, pointy-eared, boy. “What is your name? How old are you? Why did you poke me with an arrow?” he asked, full of curiosity. “My name is Bein, I am 40 years of age, and I thought you were dead.” Of course, Haven not being used to having friends that looked as old as him but were 33 years older, started giggling. Bein did not like being laughed at so he turned to walk away. When Haven had seen that the elf did not think there was anything humorous about his age, he apologized and said, “I have never met an elf before.” Bein turned back to face this odd looking boy, “Well I have never met a boy with round ears and such stalky legs before.” Haven did not appreciate Bein calling him stalky, but did not say.
After awhile they both sat under the willow tree and talked. Haven, only being a boy of 7, was very curious and asked Bein all sorts of questions. They had talked so much that Haven had told Bein of his dream about the Pegasus. Bein thought it was a silly dream but did not tell the round-eared boy. As they carried on talking, Haven had thought of a most wonderful idea. “How about we go and find this Pegasus and ask it to fly us to the Rainbow! It would be quite an adventure.” He was filled with such joy and happiness that he had leapt up and startled Bein. “No, no, that is a most ridiculous idea.” said Bein. But after many long minutes of disgusting begging from Haven, as Bein thought, he finally agreed. So off went the two boys to find this Pegasus that would take them on a ride to see the Rainbow.
